Why we make it this way

A single-walled metal cup transfers cold straight to your hand, and that is the entire point of it. Pour something iced into one of these and the outside frosts in about ten seconds. An insulated cup does the opposite job; if you wanted insulation, you would not want these.

Each one is 5 by 3 inches and holds 15 oz, which is a generous glass rather than a tumbler. Six colours means everyone knows which is theirs on a long table outside. Hand wash — the anodised colour is on the surface and a dishwasher cycle will dull it.
